When the book signing was coming up in June I told my Mum and she said "Are you going?" I said "of course I am, what do you think?" then she said "Oh Mechelle you CAN'T!!" When I asked why she says "Cos he'll take one look at you and think 'fuck sake HER again!'"

Obviously he sees thousands of people in the audience and isn't going to remember each and every one ffs! I'd only been 4 times!

THE POSSESSED (2009) (Spooked Television Releasing)

SYNOPSIS:
The belief in possession by evil spirits plagued the darkness of the 18th century. Madness and hysteria spread, classifying the cripples and mentally ill as "Being under the control of the Devil". These misfits became the victims of bizarre exorcisms or " Casting Out Rituals". Banished and removed from society they were locked away inside brutal asylums. Left helpless, alone and afraid they were branded "The Possessed".

REVIEW: "Angels to Some Devils to others" - no we're not talking about the Hellraiser films. Our journey is an investigation in the form of the recent "The Possessed". A documentary covering specific cases of reported possessions. Several instances are featured though the primary one comes in the form of the "Watseka Wonder". A rather bizarre case that extends not one generation but an additional possession of another in town. Mary Roff who died at the young age of 18 was a sufferer of seizure episodes and violent fits all her life. In 1877, things were different with many of these case easily dismissed as insanity without the present medial knowledge we have today. Mary Roff is explored, researched and contacted though psychic mediums. The results are startling.

The Booth Brothers put together another fine documentary piece that explores this very phenomena. In the course of the film, we also hear about cases such as the Annilease Michel (Emily Rose ) case, Dewi Morlaine, Marcus Tallbull, Kelly March and Michael Jones (who dies 26 times as a primi baby). Each of these cases are documented possession cases that are still highly controversial to this day. Though the clips are intertwined more in the scheme of the film rather than into great detail. The intent here is to unravel the mystery of Mary Roff and Lurancy Vennum.

Devices such as an Ovilus are used to read energy into words. While the device is questionable, the words chosen are what is haunting about it's results. A rather unique device, that I don't fully understand.

The question asked is, is this possession or reincarnation? Lurancy Vennum became overtaken by the spirit of Mary Roff at the age of 2. Evidence presented shows that Lurancy was indeed possessed due to the details she verbalized without having any any relation or previous knowledge of The Roff family. As we dig deeper we find that Mary Roff often spoke in foreign tongues for no reason and possessed clairvoyance skills in which she could even read the contents of a sealed envelop. Mary who died at the young age of 18 became fascinated before hand with Bloodletting and the use of leeches to purge the evil spirits. the whole ordeal was furthered damaged by her families action to put her into a mental asylum. Whatever the case may be, the finger points to a possession of pure evil rather than angelic.

Through investigations we find similarities in the fascination known as "cutting" who Kelly March confesses to. Even to the bizarre extent of cutting so bad the flesh would literally hang off. Argued that the action was a result of the person claiming to rid of evil spirits, this is also a modern day affliction that many actually suffer from due to mental issues.

Visits to asylums are chilling in there current day distressed forms. A tour reveals some highly dangerous methods used in the old days involving the drilling into one's skull "intrepidation" and former elements used to experiment on the mentally ill. In one report, we are shown a chair that a patient was strapped to for 6 months while there head was enclosed in a covered box. Other methods reveal extreme temperature water tubs used to shock the systems. In any case these were times of extreme questionable medical practices.

Overall, while the film projects a haunting ghostly tone, there is a solid sense of compassion for the sick and troubled. I was personally hoping to see more of the original Emily Rose case Annilease Michel but it was only mentioned in passing with some quick footage. The audio though from that case is beyond frightening.

As in previous releases the team uses a variety of tools to help define the evidence. These include EVP's, thermal imaging, heat sensors, and help from seances, mediums and psychics. The film features a nice mix of scenes, from person to person who were subjected some degree to possession and spiritual activity. A fascinating piece indeed.

It's strength comes in the evidence and progress made on the Roff and Venumm cases that resolve and emphasize the notion of life after death and the spirits that linger. I think the production fits perfectly in with the level of consumer interest in all things supernatural. The product is well done and the story is equally impressive.

A while back, tlarkin suggested a category where he could answer computer tech questions.  Good idea.  It hasn't been used much, but it's nice to know it's available.  And last night I gave texast her personal category too, so she could start spreading the word according to T.  It seems to me we're onto something here.

I'm going to set up a Topic section called "Personal Spaces," where people can start their own threads.  Although I hope people will continue to socialize in the Break Room, and post about shooting and guns in the relevant Topic sections, anyone here can request a personal space.  Ideally, I'd like to see people kind of staking out their personal territories in them, talking about their special areas of knowledge or things that are near and dear to their hearts.

But there are no restrictions.  If you request a Personal Space it's yours, period.  You can start threads about anything you want, barring stuff so patently offensive it breaks even my loose rules.  They'll be normal threads of course, where any other member can weigh in.  But if someone else starts a thread in your space, I'll move it or remove it.

Spent some time with Reaper this morning. Layed this down:

Just a start. Not mixed well, can hear me pluggin guitar at begining, I know the volume drops at the first pause, no vocals as yet, lead part at end is actually layed down as idea for vocal track. Just layered drums and guitars.

Bass line has me stumped. Tried striaght up following guitar,sounds too simple. I dont seem to be able to find the DRIVE I want from the bass. Hell there is only 3 chords in the whole song 0:20.0 - 0:50.0 A-G-D then  0:55.0  G-D-A.

Toss me an idea or opinion will ya guys?

My dad is an amazing man and at 87, incredibly durable.  He's survived (for many years) from both colon and prostrate cancer surgeries and follow-up chemo.  He said it tasted like he washed his mouth with Benzene.  With a ninth grade education he would become a self-made, multi-millionaire, yet generous beyond belief.

Fortunately, the money part didn't happen until I was in high school.  It didn't have much bearing on my life at the time.  I didn't get a car or new clothes and was expected to earn all my own spending money.  So I did the paper route gig and worked at the Hollow. 

We came to Piqua in 1960 from Lima, but my dad had already started his little business the prior year.  It's still going strong 51 years later.  That didn't happen by accident.  In addition to all his other qualities, he's one of the smartest people I've ever met.  That intelligence is spread across a wide range of topics.  He'll slaughter you in checkers while discussing scrap metal prices.

Where he might of lacked in "dad" skills (his dad was an abusive alcoholic), he more than made up with as a teacher.  No other teacher in my life even comes close.  As the "trailblazer" amongst four younger siblings, I sometimes found the going slow, if at all.  My dad wasn't exactly a Democrat when it came to family rules and regulations and I carried more than my fair (probably not really) of the doled out consequences.

One of the many, many blessings bestowed upon me by the "Big Guy Upstairs" is an incredible memory, starting with all sorts of things from the time I was about three years old.  In order to see that I towed the line, thereby avoiding mischief, he often took me on numerous excursions. (That last statement continues in some respects, to this day)  I was born in Dayton and my dad took me everywhere.  We watched I75 being built and I70 replacing St. Rt. 40.  I could watch bulldozers for hours to this day.  He took me to tool shops, a railroad roundhouse, farms and car dealers, to name a few.  He was teaching me every step along the way.  I recognize this fact even more, the older I get.

When we moved to Piqua, I'd hang out at his business (prodded volunteer) after school, sweeping and whatever else a second grader can do.  Straighten shelves, ruin a dozen invoices, fetch a cup of "machine" coffee, you know, important stuff, at least to a second grader.  On Saturdays it was lunch at McCleends (that spelling looks funky, but sombody here will remember).

So all of this has been a long winded story about, "one dollar".  When I was in third grade, my mom sent me with $5 to GC Murphy for office supplies.  This tab was three bucks and some change, leaving the courier with a buck and coin.  We played "war" back then and good old GC had a green machine gun that made a cool sound and looked just like the one Vic Morrow carried in "Combat".  Really cool and only 99 cents (plus tax! - A slight oversight, buy hey, I'm in third grade).

On the plus side, I have indeed fulfilled my mission, but failed to bring home all the troops.  "You're father isn't going to be happy!"  That probably wasn't the first and certainly not the last time I heard that.  The long and short of it, standard paddling and reimburse the "Treasury".  After some bickering (yea, right), we reached a settlement of one dollar, to be paid with "in-kind" services.

Until completed, I was to come home after school, get my homework done then "white wash" the basement walls.  At the time it seemed like I was required to paint the Sistine Chapel.  It took four or five days (daily inspection, instruction and remedy).  But I can tell you, I've never lost that lesson.  Nobody gives you money, you've got to earn every buck.

(Okay, sorry for boring you but dear Dragon has been prodding us to do more....LOL)
