  • It's no big secrete that it's pretty slow in here! lol
We need to get the word out about decorforums so we can start making it what it was meant to be.  A handmade decorating network.

I have promoted the form on Twitter, Etsy, Facebook, and craigslist.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to bring new members to our forum?

    I have one idea.
    A giveaway.
I could make something , maybe a coaster set, Only members could enter. I would also promote the giveaway off decor forums to get more members to register
Do you think this is a good idea? Or do you think we will end up with lot's of member that sign up for the giveaway but never come back? No good having 100 members if none of them participate.
I would love to hear your opinions on this.

  • Sorry about all the junk yesterday.  I will not bring it up, at least what it was about.  I was VERY upset by DMW's comments about my post because I thought we were friends and I really, really liked him.  I was also upset because I thought things were kind of being slanted in favor of one side when ALL I was saying was that BOTH sides had points.  Due to the freak I am, I can see both sides equally.  Regardless, I overacted, got immature in my post about leaving, and made a scene.  I formally hereby say a sincere "I AM SORRY" to everyone.  How about we ALL try to keep heated issues OFF the forum (eh Kody?) and get back to hugging us some zombies!!!!
That said, if you will have me, I am back.

  • In my own oppinion trigun is the all time best anime ever "THIS WORLD IS MADE OF..... LOVE AND PEACE" (insert obnoxious laugh here).

  • I have jsut watch Stephe's Standing in the Rain introduction to her journey withRain.  It was so funny I couldnt keep the smile off my face.  I think we all have had that experience when we were introduced to Rain for the first time.  You are all so lucky in US to have an Asain channel for viewing (even though it is now defunct there are other channels that also cater to Asian tastes).

I loved watching the videos and agree those are some powerful images and this much sexiness in a man should be illegal or on prescription!  If he were a doctor he could cure the world.   And he does in his own little way.

The only way I ca spread the word amongst my friends is to keep putting youtube videos on my facebook page.  It annoys them no end but one day they will look and say.....Robbie Williams is nothing to this guy!  Just to convert oone soul to Rainism will be my dream.

    Thanks Stephe...keep writing!

  • Lefora has added an off topic tab to our forum.

This is not our forums off topic section. This off topic section is connected to all the lefora forums.
We have the option of removing it from our forum but I will keep it up for now and if you all like, it we will keep it. If you don't like it we can get rid of it at any time.

    In Leforas words
" You are viewing a network of conversations happening all over the web, not just in your forum. Think of it as a world-wide ‘off-topic’ forum. You can come here to read posts started on other forums or start your own. When you make a post here, it will only exist in the ‘Off Topic’ tab and not in the rest of your forum. It will also be posted to thousands of other forums around the web, so that you can join a fun and interesting global conversation.
Your username displayed here will include your forum’s shortname, like: “chief@support”. You can click on a member’s name to be taken to their default forum."

  • Still under testing coming soon!! It is free no payment required. Once done they will be pasted here.

  • Hello Mabinogians!

Last month we informed you that Mabinogi would be revamping its enhanced game services. After extensive review, we’re proud to announce our new “Premium Service” that combines the best aspects of all our services in one easy-to-use set of game enhancements. What do you need to make your Fantasy Life complete?  Check out the awesome game enhancements available with the one and 30-day Mabinogi Premium Service:

    •    Free Stuff: Receive exclusive enchanted and rare items from Nao every week on your character’s birthday!
    •    Extra Storage: Extra inventory space to carry all your cool gear.
    •    Bank Inventory: Extra bank space plus the ability to share items between characters
    •    Guild Support: Create and manage your guild and explore Erinn with friends.
    •    Personal Shops: Buy and sell items with your own personal storefront.
    •    Housing: Own your very own piece of Erinn that you can use as a storefront to sell items.
    •    Exclusive gestures and Emotes
    •    No Camping Penalty: The Premium Package removes the “camping” penalty for hunting in the same area for too long.
    •    No Town Rebirth Penalty: Premium Package players no longer use experience points when reviving in a town.
    •    10% Combat Experience Increase: As befits your special status, you’ll receive a 10% bonus to earned experience points for hunting monsters.

    FAQ

Q: Why are you changing the Premium Services?
A: We discovered that having four different services for players was very confusing. People would want services from different packages and were never sure which package best suited their needs. Combining the most used and popular services into one package makes it easier to use – and cheaper too!

Q: How long does the Premium Service last?
A: Players can purchase the Premium Service in increments of one or 30 days.

Q: How much does the Premium Service cost?
A: The one-day Premium Service costs 1,800 NX. The 30-day Premium Service costs 10,900 NX.

Q: Can I still purchase the old packages?
A: No. After February 8, 2010 the Mabinogi Premium Service is the only enhanced game service that will be available for purchase.

Q: I still have time to run on my old service. Do I lose that money?
A: Absolutely not. Any time you have remaining on your old service will be refunded. If you have any issue with this, please contact Nexon Support.

Q: I’m worried about my guild during the transition to the new service. Am I going to lose any information?
A: Absolutely not. Every Mabinogi Player will receive three days of FREE Mabinogi Premium Service once it becomes available. This will give everyone plenty of time to transfer over to the new service.

Q: Will I continue to receive the same free items I used to get under Nao’s Support Service or the Advanced Play Service?
A: No. Certain items that used to be free under those services are not part of the Premium Service. Those items are now purchasable in the Cash Shop, along with several new items! The items updated are:
    •    Nao Soul Stones
    •    B+ Bombs (formerly escape bombs)
    •    Skill Untrain Capsule

    •    Metal Dye Potion
    •    Dungeon Waxen Wing
    •    Remote Weapon, Tailor, Blacksmith, Town Hall, and Alchemist Coupons

Additionally, time expiration will be removed from all cash shop items, allowing you to enjoy your purchased items at your convenience.

    W
e hope you enjoy the new Premium Service

  • We have the clever "Last line you wrote" thread but how about a "Coolest line you wrote" (or couple of lines) thread. Avert your eyes youngin's , there be bizarro ahead:

They are stopped at the entrance to the Son’s of Satan’s Redeeming Cock. The camp is quite. Way to quite. Like ‘everyone is already fucking dead’ quiet.

  • Hi!  I am going to be doing my first 3 day show at a convention center in March.  Has anyone ever participated in a large show like this?  Do you have any idea how many items to bring?  Since my pillows are so bulky, I am going to fill the van up until it bursts.  Any other advice?

    Thanks,

  • Chapter 2 is here.  MC last name is going to change from Boyd.

     London Recorder Aug. 19, 2010
There have been increased reports of random attacks on the citizens of London .  The attackers are brutally biting and ripping at people, tearing sections of flesh from the bodies and reportedly devouring the meat.  Rumors are spreading that the people who are attacked, die and then return to life.  They then proceed to attack others in the same manner as they were.  Scotland Yard has refused to issue a statement at this time.

    ***
“Good morning, Chief Boyd.  My name is Adam.  Some call me Captain, but most just call me Brother Adam,” his host greeted him the next morning “, Welcome to The Home.”
Frank locked eyes with the man doing a better assessment now that he was rested.  The monk that stood before him was the same one that had greeted him at the gate yesterday afternoon.  He had been led to a room with a bed and table in it.  A different monk, this one elderly, had brought him beef stew and bread for dinner.  After consuming what Frank thought was the best meal he had eaten in years, he sat on the side of the bed and removed his boots and stretched out intending only to sleep for a few hours.  The next morning he awoke to a knocking on the door of his solitary room and upon opening it, found the same monk from the prior day.
“How do you know who I am?” Frank managed to husk out through his dry throat.
“Come.  We have plenty of time to discuss this over breakfast.  It sounds like you could use a cup of coffee,” Brother Adam replied.
Frank followed the brown robe covered monk down through the stone hallways marveling over the construction of the monastery.  Keystone arches adorned each doorway and solid oak doors four inches thick separated the different passageways.  Every ten feet there was a door like the one on the room that Frank spent the night in.
Must be a dormitory, Frank thought to himself.
They reached the end of the connected halls and proceeded down a flight of stairs where there was a double oak door.  The friar opened the door and led Frank outside, and down a covered portico that ran the length of the large building.  At the end was another set of doors that led into a small lobby and off that lobby was the dining room.  Large wooden tables ran the length of the room standing end to end to make long rows of seating.  Many of the seats were already filled by other monks eating their breakfast.  Brother Adam led them through a side door where a cafeteria type line was waiting.
Frank grabbed a tray and followed the monk through the line getting a tray full of pancakes, eggs, and bacon.  At the end he poured himself a cup of steaming hot coffee, grabbing silverware, napkins and a couple pieces of toast.
Walking back into the large room, Frank was struck by the variety of nationalities that were represented.  He also noticed that there were women present in the dining room wearing the same robes as other monks.  Brother Adam noticed Frank’s confusion and a small smile crossed his lips.
“There are some seats over here,” he said to Frank once again leading the way to one of the rows of tables.  They sat at the end of one of the lines, opposite each other to make conversation easier.
“We don’t discriminate,” Adam said towards the perplexed look on Frank’s face.
“See the man over to your right with the long grey beard?”
        Frank nodded.
“That is Brother Vladimir.  We worked against each other in the Mediterranean.  Russian Navy”
“See the woman with the dark pony tail at the other end?”
        Frank nodded his confirmation again.
        “Sister Adi.  Israeli Mossad”
“I thought this was for American veterans?” Frank asked Adam.
“We take in anyone that is a veteran.  After leaving the military we are all equal,” Brother Adam replied.
“Any faith and any nationality are welcome in this place.  We all share the same scars in the long run.  Frankly we are surprised it has taken you this long to get here.”
Frank’s head jerked up from his tray of food.  “What do you mean?”
“We have been trying to find you since the incident in Panama , but you hid so well we could not locate you,” Adam said in response.
Frank didn’t raise his head up this time but his eyes came watching Adam intently his raised eyebrows enquiring of the friar.
“Yes, we know about the ambush down there and losing the majority of your team in the jungle,” Adam answered.  “We were looking to recruit you into our group.”
        “Why me?”
“We’ll get to that one of these days.  Our first priority is healing you not just physically but also mentally.  Our goal around here is to keep ourselves in the same shape as we were in the service.  Not everyone chooses to be as active as th eothers.  Some of us take on very peaceful roles, but others, not so much.  You’ll find out more as time goes by.”
Frank continued eating his breakfast and contemplated everything that Adam had said.  He wasn’t sure if he wanted to continue to stay here now.  These people were a little odd.  Talking about staying in military shape and healing themselves.  He just couldn’t be sure that this all made sense.
    ***
After they had finished eating breakfast they each poured themselves to go cups of coffee to take with them on the rest of the tour.  Walking out of the cafeteria, they headed toward the river on a stone path that took them through an orchard of apple and pear trees.
“So now what?” Frank asked Adam.
“Now we work with you to see what it is you need to soothe your soul.”
“What is it that I’m supposed to do?”
“This afternoon, after lunch, I’m going to teach you a form of meditation and provide you with the guidance you need to help yourself.”
Frank sipped from his coffee cup and pondered the monk’s words, trying to make sense of them.  He wanted to understand how all this applied to him, but everything was rather foggy.  As they continued to walk in silence, Frank swore he could hear weapons fire, but couldn’t be sure and that definitely didn’t make sense with the monastery.
They turned there walk through large gardens of vegetables.  Beans, cabbage, tomatoes, and many other varieties were being grown on the land.  On the other side of the growing fields was a series of barns and corrals housing horses and cattle.
“Is there anything you don’t do here?” Frank asked.
“We have tried over time to break our dependcy on the outside word.  Through careful balancing we can now put enough food away every year to last through the long winters up here.  If we increase our population too much we won’t have enough food for everyone.  It is all carefully planned out and monitored by part of our staff.  We have people from all walks of life here.  We were once soldiers, sailors, and most importantly enemies, now we all work together.  There are no nations here.  Just people with similar pasts that all share an urge to heal themselves and others.”
Frank contemplated the monk’s speech and realized that what he said was very true and that he himself was looking for the things Adam had mentioned.  The gravel path took them to a set of steps that led down the hillside to a series of boat docks that housed a couple fishing boats.  One of the monks from breakfast was work on one of the boats preparing it to sail.
Brother Vladimir looked up when he heard their footstpes on the waterlogged dock as they approached the boat he was working on.
“Adam, have you come see sink my ship again?” Vladimir asked with a large grin on his face.
“Once was enough Vlad.  I don’t see any need to do that again,” Adam replied returning the smile.
“Wait a second.  You and Vlad were in combat against each other?” Frank asked.
“Remember I said that we faced off in the Med?  We had a bit of a situation one day I was ordered to sink Vlad’s trawler that was really a spy ship.”
“Tut tut, Adam.  It was just a little fishing ship,” retorted Vlad with a chuckle.
“Vlad, I guess I don’t understand.  Adam sank your ship and now you are laughing it up?” Frank asked in confusion trying to get to the root of things.
“Mr. Boyd, Adam and I were at one time puppets of greater governments that worked against each other instead of working together when it dictated.  I have no anomosity toward Adam.  Why should I?” Vlad replied.
“That is the first lesson you must learn Frank.  We were all just pawns when we served various nations.  Now we serve some sort of higher purpose.  We are from different nations, races, and religions.  Our goal is to work together and to be prepared when we are needed,” Adam said answering many of Frank’s questions with those few sentences.
As they walked back toward the main buildings Frank continued to ponder what he had learned so far and was beginning to buy into everything.
“Frank, it is ten o’clock and you’ve had a very busy morning.  I suspect you might want to have to think about the things you’ve learned and seen,” Frank stated in the form of a strong suggestion instead of a question.
“Yeah, Brother Adam, I think that might be a good idea.  May I go back to my room for a little bit?”
“You certainly may.  Why I don’t I meet you there at noon for lunch?”

I know editors that won't bother reading a single word of the story when this happens. I have no idea why anyone would do things this way, but I know for SURE that there are writers ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD that stick their name on the story along with the title and decide: Good Enough!

Why bother sending it in if you're going to do that?

Some of the stories will be illustrated by our in-house artists.

Cover letters are welcome, with a few lines about your writing history. Something about the child is also welcome, after all, this will be something for them from you. Max word count is 2.5k words. Fifty percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Second Chapter Life Center (http://www.2ndchapter.org/).

Please send submissions to Chris Bartholomew at author.chris@gmail.com with "children" in the subject line. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me about them. Good luck!

Ten years ago, one of my favorite songs came out, Hanging By A Moment. I loved the sound and I loved how I couldn’t stop listening to it. That doesn’t happen often to me. It was a different kind of sound to me. It was the era of Default, 3 Doors Down and Nickelback. And Lifehouse managed to stick out with that song and it threw them into the world that they have not stopped for the last ten years. “We went from playing this one Irish pub in front of two or three people I remember the record company was bribing people with free beer just to come see us play, no one knew who we were, to going on the road with Pearl Jam and opening up on the side stage.” says Jason Wade, lead singer of Lifehouse.
They are releasing their fifth studio album on February 23rd called Smoke & Mirrors and the album is more for everyone, the hip upbeat tunes to the things we are used to hearing from them. Jason explains, ”We were adamant about sonically pushing ourselves in this record we tried out some more electronic sounds, you know some synth basses. Basically, if we had a song and we didn’t feel like the lyric was right we would just start over on it. This record took a good year and a half all along the way it was a lot of fun but it was also very challenging.”
I had a chance to talk to Jason Wade the lead singer of Lifehouse at the beginning of January. I have to say this was my first phone interview and Jason made me feel calm and sure of myself. Here are the highlights from the interview.

On if there is a process he goes through to get his music and words together:
My process is usually I pick up an acoustic guitar. I start playing chords until something kinda surprises me. Maybe something that’s a little different then something I’ve written in the past. And I’ll sing melodies over those chords until it sounds like I am saying words. It almost sounds like gibberish at first, I go through this process where I’ll record it and then listen back to it and kind of decode some of the vowel sounds until the song starts to take shape.
Usually the lyrics come last and the melody and the guitar comes first. Sometimes, I mean it’s different every time. I try not to get into the same pattern of writing the same song twice. On this last record I started just getting song titles and I would write them down in my journal and I then would wait until I would get the inspiration and the song would come to fruition and I would just kinda write down these titles and wait for the song to manifest.

On why they changed their name from Bliss to Lifehouse:
We couldn’t own the name properly. We tried to clear it and get a website and all of that and it turned out that there was another band that already licensed the name over in Europe. And so we decided that it was just time to change our name altogether too cause the band was shifting a couple of members quit and a couple got fired. And we kind of at that point it was 1999 me and Rick started Lifehouse together after No Name Face was finished and just kinda felt like we needed a new name for a new start.

On if the name Lifehouse has a meaning:
Not really it was one of those things where someone just said and we thought it was an interesting was an interesting play on words. To be honest we were desperate for a name because our record was finished but we didn’t have a band name so we just went with it without putting much thought behind it.

On how Lifehouse has grown from Hanging By A Moment to Halfway Gone:
In the earlier days I wrote most of the songs by myself, I would occasionally write with our producer but that’s kinda changed I’ve opened up a little bit more to co-writing and we wrote Halfway Gone with Jude Cole who produced this record and the last record with us, and he had the idea to Kevin Rudolf, we all liked that song, Let It Rock, and he came into the studio one day and we basically had great chemistry he had the chord structure already there and I just kinda started singing a melody on top of what he was playing and it was a great collaboration, it happened pretty effortlessly. I just think that it was important for us sonically for us to try something different not just keep creating the same record over and over and just do with what you are comfortable with. So we kinda just stretched out on that song and made it a little more current sounding.

On how fans say that Halfway Gone sounds like a departure of the band:
It definitely is different. For a lot of people it seems like a departure for Lifehouse which it is but once the record comes out I think that a lot of people will see that a lot of the songs are reminiscent of the older Lifehouse sound so we kinda split it down the middle between songs that are catchier and that can be played on the radio and then songs that are more rock tracks, that are little more rock live feeling.

On if the process of recording Smoke & Mirrors was as easy even though it was the fifth time they recorded an album:
Actually no, it was harder to be honest. I think when you have been doing it for ten years now which we have been basically recording and touring a good ten years you get to a place where you get really comfortable with your sound, with what you do in the studio and you almost kind of …you can get too good at it in a way to where you don’t stretch yourself to try new things. So we were adamant about sonically pushing ourselves in this record we tried out some more electronic sounds, you know some synth basses. Basically, if we had a song and we didn’t feel like the lyric was right we would just start over on it. This record took a good year and a half all along the way it was a lot of fun but it was also very challenging.
I know there was still a lot of the interview I didn’t even get to touch on. I will have to publish a second part The Outtakes next week. I just have too many things that I want to share.
You can catch Lifehouse on Twitter, Facebook or at their official site. And get their new single, Halfway Gone, here from iTunes.

  • TITLE: THE DEBT COLLECTOR

    GENRE: DRAMA

    LOGLINE:

An overzealous, verbally abusive debt collector gets more than he bargains for when his latest collection call results in a woman committing suicide -- and her grieving husband bent on revenge.

    SYNOPSIS:

Young and ambitious Danny Holquist works for Triple A Collections, a collection agency in the mid-west. He's good at getting the poor and down trodden to pay their past due bills by coercion, lies -- and flat out threats.

One day, Danny calls the home of Frank Campanelli, an unemployed Gulf War veteran, living with his mentally ill wife in a dilapidated trailer home in the backwoods of Milwaukee , to collect on Frank’s past due mortgage payments. Instead, Danny speaks with Frank's wife, Miriam, who, unknown to Danny, suffers from a chronic and untreated form of mental illness. Danny threatens Miriam, telling her he's a law enforcement official (which he's not) and will come to her home to evict her and Frank and throw them into jail if they don’t pay up. He even goes so far as telling Miriam that she’ll be violently raped by prison inmates once she’s thrown behind bars. Utterly terrified at the prospect of homelessness and prison, Miriam, already mentally unstable, takes her life.

Danny, not knowing that Miriam has killed herself, calls the Campanelli home again. This time he confronts Frank and makes his usual collection agency threats, unaware of Frank’s profound loss. Within moments of the call, however, Frank quickly realizes Danny’s involvement in Miriam’s suicide. Grief stricken and blinded with rage, Frank vows to avenge his wife’s death against a cruel and unrepentant Danny, telling him he's as good as dead. Danny, never having been threatened by anyone, arrogantly shrugs off the threat from what he calls "White trash America ". However, Danny comes to the terrifying conclusion that Frank is indeed coming -- and intends to get his pound of flesh.
